This one is about 50 years old Any info on the steel quality and type? The other was a greatneck hatchet You cannot see it in this pic but the great neck hatchet has the scandi grind but by the time you get to the back of the grind the blade is swelled to 1/4 inch plus thick
Which means the blade does not sink in deep However, if you had bucnh of 2x4 ends to split that thick part of the blade ends in splitting. Nothing in the woods has changed dramatically. I would like to rehandle a small norlund hatchet and the handles i have looked at are too large

Handle says official scout axe. Looking for an inexpensive sheath for my fiskars hatchet It doesn’t have anything but the cheap plastic one it came with It serves its purpose but i don’t think i would be comfortable packing it with that sheath
